Why does everyone say that? Just because GW2 will have features that WoW has that are also in a countless amount of other games does not mean GW2 is going to be anything like WoW.

I am not not going to buy GW2. I love this game, except for the fact I got 3 or 4 mini dredge brutes in a row (/coolstorybro).

I dont expect i buy GW2 upfront.
I started late playing GW1, so i still have much to do in GW1.
AND, i am more interested in Diablo3.
After GW1 and D3 i'll look into if GW2 is good and interesting enough to get.

I'm not going bother, the stupid droprate out of sudden since year 2000+, using lagswitch to marks legit users as cheaters(such as ranger skill supposed to have like 25m, because of the lag you doing purpose on self, a delay will caused making it looks 40m skillshot).
I suspect Wurdulak are. Seeing the magazine coming likely from those Italian terrorist.
No more NCsoft for me. Since they banned me at Cabal Online by marking legit as hackers.
Edit: Got banned at Gamefaq since a Italy moderator appear
Guru3d got banned because they suspect I am Chocobo, logical if the user owner is Don. Die Italy.

I might buy it. I won't buy it until I get some reviews first. It will probably be like Guild Wars was for me: Fun until I beat the game, then I was like, "oh I can farm and shit and thats about it". I really liked the layout of Guild Wars and how the level cap was so low and I didn't have to grind for 5 months to get the max level. Its gonna be a toss up. If I have money hanging around then I'll probably buy it. Otherwise, I'll just wait and hear what other people say.
And they better leave PvP the way it was, since that was pretty much my last refuge before I quit.

My financial circumstances are different now from what they were in 2005. My computer barely supports GW1, as it was bought in 2001 and was "top of the line" back then. Recent breakdowns have resulted in lower grade components coming from cannibalized machines, to make the needed repairs. New replacement parts are few and far between and very expensive. (On a fixed income.) Unless a 2010 or newer game will run on a 2001 machine, a copy GW2 will remain on the shelf or go to someone else.
The reason I continue to play GW1? Because I can. I will continue to play, daily, weekly, monthly, who knows, until the servers shutdown. After that, I will deal with when the time comes.

I don't think I'll be buying GW2 on day one. I'll wait a month, see what people have to say, check out all the reviews, etc.

Truthfully hard for me to say...I wasn't going to buy it because of Ncsoft having shitty security...but...anet has shown that they care more by introducing their own extra security feature...sooo....I might just buy it...

I can't speak for everyone, but the more we learn about GW2, the less it seems like GW. So calling it more WoW-like is natural. Example: GW2 won't have heroes or henchmen... so if you don't get a group of real players, you're soloing.

So many of you are so over dramatic, you act as if anet were infinity ward blatantly trying to shit on you.
Far from it, they are a force of a development team and the game will sell like an aids vaccine.
EDIT: To call it a wow knock off is absurd, maybe it's becoming a hybrid of D&D and MTG more than just MTG based but that's as far as it gets sensibly, WOW is not a template for an MMO they did nothing groundbreaking developing that game.

So because it's not like GW1, it's like WoW? :\
From the information we've been getting, ANet are trying to make a more unique MMO, nothing like WoW. Yes, there are some features in GW2 that will be somewhat similar to WoW, but that doesn't mean it's going to be anything like WoW, that's just because it's going to be a MMO. Saying GW2 is WoW-like because there are no h/h is like saying Modern Warfare 2 is like Bad Company 2 because there are guns.
It's not WoW-like, it's MMO-like, because it's a MMO.

I think its premature to make any absolute statements about whether you will or will not buy the game. However from everything that I've read about GW2, it will be more like WoW and less like the original GW. This is fine for those who like WoW but don't want to or can't pay monthly, but if I wanted WoW, id get the real thing.
As of now, there are very few things that actually interest me in GW2. I want game mechanics information because I feel that knowing how the game works will allow me to make a more educated assertion of whether I will want to play GW2.
|
I said this in March while waiting for game mechanics information. I can fairly securely say now with what we know that I will not be getting the game. Without turning this into a GW2 debate, my reasons are:
1. Less creativity in skill choice (equipping a wep gives you preset skills...)
2. No second professions. Anet has said that race functions similarly, but unless you can change your primary in GW2, then your race and profession are set unlike your secondary, which means less build diversity and less player choice. Anet has also said that despite no dual professions, there will be cross profession combinations. But since they scrapped the companion system, that would require another player.
3. Classes. I enjoyed the unique classes in GW1, especially the Dervish. There will be no scythes/spears in GW2. Instead, there will be a class whose primary weapons are a mace and shield. This seems like a complete knockoff of DnD to me, and it does feel like Anet deliberately shat on my Dervish. GW1 was unique in its classes, GW2 is not.
Of course there are some very interesting and good aspects that I did not mention, but at the time I am very disillusioned and had even tried to close my guru 1 and 2 accounts.
I will be looking to SC2, SW:ToR, and D3.

If it does sell, it will be because it is free to play. And in turn Anet will use their "units sold" measurement instead of active players. Many GW1 players like their choice in skills and being able to determine their skill bar. Typical MMO players like having LOTS of skills to use/choose from all at once. Although just my opinion, neither group will enjoy having 5/10 of their slots pigeonholed because Anet doesn't trust them to determine their own builds. Another slot is reserved for a self heal (of the player's choice albeit), and another slot is reserved for your choice of elite. Your only real creativity is going to compose of three skill slots. And I still don't think switching through weapons in mid combat is going to be all that attractive.

This is very accurate. This is part of why I am disappointed, if I wanted an MMO I'd be playing one. GW2 will be unique, but it will be a unique MMO and certainly not the cup of tea GW1 was. Instead of drinking the spiced up GW1 tea, I'd prefer to just move to another flavor entirely (hopefully you get the analogy).

The important thing is everyone seems to have made up their mind 2 yrs in advance. Ok maybe not everyone, but 90% of the people are making definitive statements about how the game will play and how the game will compare to GW.
Now i may be creeping way out on a limb here, but perhaps actually seeing reviews and more gameplay/interviews might be in arder before coming to a final conclusion.
Thats why these threads never end. People love to speculate.
Now i KNOW ill buy it because ive owned GW for 5 yrs and have enjoyed it. Ill buy it then ill play it and if it sucks ill uninstall it and go kill something on CODMW.

You know, it's kind of funny, but reading these boards, It's pretty apparent that the majority of GWGuru members don't trust the majority of GW players to determine their own builds... well, good ones at least.
So ANet is idiotproofing their sequel, big deal. It's not like GW itself has been all that much of a challenge for a while.

If I don't have to upgrade my hardware and I have the money for the software, I'll probably get it .

Dang. Lotta bitterness going around.
My reasons for NOT buying GW2 are much simpler than most, apparently.
1) In 4 years of play, and picking up all 4 content additions, I have yet to finish any of them. I've been going through college, working, and enjoying being a newlywed in the time I've had GW1.
2) I'm just NOW starting to enjoy (and beat) the storylines of the campaigns and EOTN.
3) I just NOW have sufficient ingame funding (having never been to FoW or UW or DoA) to get the armors and greens I want to use to deck out my characters.
So assuming the GW1 servers stay up and running (even a little bit) after GW2 comes out, I'll be still going strong through Tyria/Cantha/Elona whilst everyone else has either ragequit or is gallivanting through the "future".

I doubt it, but I will look at GW2 like any other game that is on the market. Just because I play GW1--it will not factor into my decision into getting GW2 and I don't have the time nor money to play a game like I used too.

I guess the point i was tryin to make was i dont think anyone can know what the final product will look like. However, i know i personally will get it. I love the first title so ill most likely get GW2.
To some of the other points regarding anet and the security issues, i couldnt agree more. Security should be paramount at every turn.
